FibreMax Composites is Australia’s leading wholesale supplier of Basalt Fibre related products.
Basalt Fibre Mesh is ideally suited for reinforcing roads, overlays to prolong life spans and reduce maintenance due to reduced reflective cracking caused by traffic loading and temperature cycling. Basalt fibre mesh, when supplied correctly makes it possible to reduce thickness of asphalt concrete up to 20%.
Because of their higher performance and potential lower costs, they have the potential to cost effectively replace fibreglass, steel fibres, polypropylene, polyethylene, polyester, aramids and carbon fibre products in many applications Typical applications include road and asphalt construction, concrete reinforcement, marine, civil engineering, automotive airport runways, tunnelling, mining and many others.
Our focus is to tailer solutions by working closely with customers, without compromising on quality or service
General Superior Properties of
Continuous Basalt Fibres
- Higher Tensile Strength 4000- 4800 Mpa
- Elastic Modulus 90 – 110 GPa
- Melting Temp of Basalt Fibres 1450°C
- Density 2.6 – 2.8 g/cm³
- Elongation at break 3.1
- 15-20% higher Tensile Strength and Modulus when
compared to regular E- Glass - Non combustible and explosion proof
- Non conductive and will not absorb or transfer
moisture - Good affinity with concrete and asphalt
Typical Advantages when using Basalt Fibres
- Impervious to chloride ion and chemical attack when used
for reinforcement applications such as concrete or asphalt. - Quality Basalt Fibres do not rust and is resistant to alkalinity
inherent in concrete - Minimise distortion cracks and structural failure due to both
higher mechanical properties and extended operating
temperatures - Environmentally friendly as it is naturally occurring,
non carcinogenic and non toxic - Transparent to magnetic fields and radio frequencies
- Electrically and thermally non conductive
- ¼ the weight of steel reinforcement
- Easy installation possible due to its light weight, requiring
no special equipment - Offers improved concrete product life, lowering
maintenance and replacement costs
Characteristics
Exhibit extraordinary benefits and features which makes it perfectly suitable as an ideal alternative for concrete reinforcement for projects such as roads, runways, bridges…
Designed for reinforcing roads and highway overlays to prolong pavement lifespan
Reduce effect of reflective cracking caused by traffic loading, age hardening and temperature cycling Ability to reduce thickness of asphalt concrete pavements
Ideally suited for concrete reinforcement due to its tensile strength and natural resistance to deterioration from alkalis Can be used under super low temperatures which helps to prevent surface cracking Mesh sizes can range from 12x12mm to 100 x 100mm to suit applications
Basalt Fibre fabrics
Characteristics
Are ideal for soil and embankment stabilisation and landfill
coverings due to its high strength and environmentally
friendly properties
Available in various aperture sizes and tensile strengths to suit
application
Rolls can be provided up to 5mtrs wide.
Basalt Fibre Chopped strands
Characteristics
Wide range of sizes and lengths is available to suit
reinforcement requirement
Can be mixed directly into polymers and concrete and has
high adhesion to cement mix
High tensile strength relative to steel and Polypropylene
High E Modulus resulting in excellent specific tenacity when
compared to steel fibres, can be supplied up to 80mm long
Basalt Fibre Rebars
Characteristics
Much higher tensile strength than steel or fibreglass of the
same diameter
High strength plus zero rusting allows for thinner, lighter
panels and decks
Do not rust or absorb water means that spacing between
rebars and surface can be reduced = thinner panels
Chemically inert with all concretes
Much lighter and easier to work with than steel
reinforcement and can be easily cut in the field
Exactly same coefficient of expansion as concrete
Do not conduct electricity which prevents electrolysis in
marine applications
